The Columbia Housing Development Corporation (CHDC) is a 501(c)4 organization that works diligently to provide quality homeownership opportunites to the citizens of the City of Columbia. CHDC accomplishes this mission through various new construction and rehabilitiation projects throughout many city neighborhoods. Currently, the Corporation is concentrating on the Martin Luther King, Lyon Street, Waverly and Waites Road communities. A renewed effort has been made to revitalize two historic homes in the Martin Luther King neighborhood while building two to three new ones. One historic home on Stark Street has been completely renovated in this area and is ready for purchase. Another home located on Pendleton Street is currently under construction.
The Lyon Street Community will realize nine to ten new homes in their community which will include attractive, yet affordable upgrades. The Waites Road community is seeing the realization of sixteen new single family homes with various floor plans and designs, as the first three homes of "Edgewood Place" have been completed. All of the CHDC communities benefit from various financing packages made available through the generosity of the Community Development Department of the City of Columbia and its partner banks.

Looking toward the future, the Columbia Housing Development Corporation reflects on the past to gain knowledge, vision and strength as we move forward. CHDC and its Board of Directors continues a mission of high aspirations and lofty goals for all the neighborhoods we serve. We will continue to work with the City of Columbia and area neighborhood associations to identify and target blighted areas for revitalization. Through its shared vision with Columbia's citizens, the Columbia Housing Development Corporation "WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE" and will help everyone who desires to own their own home to achieve the "GREAT AMERICAN DREAM" of affordable homeownership.
